Questions to ask the Indian Automotive industry

Being on Twitter for the last few months I have learnt so much about automobiles. I had my views on particular cars but by hearing opinions of people who actually own those cars, most of them have been contradictory to my views. You never really experience a car unless you own it  or even test driven it.

Even people who may not be much of a car enthusiast as automotive journalists are, they have much better experience and views (not comparing).

Also, some of the major automotive companies in the last few years have taken major decisions in terms of building a product that, to be honest, really shocks me. This leads me to ask some straight forward questions to every car lover, owner, journalist and automobile brands as well. So, Here are the questions I want to ask.

  1. Why is there so much focus on sales units being sold rather than making the product itself better in every aspect ?

      2.   If a particular brand has faced constructive criticism regarding a product, why are there being no proper attempts made to make things better ?

  1. To the audience and brands, why is features & pricing on your top most priority list ?

  1. Are we buying a car just for transport? Where is our love for driving pleasure gone ?

  1. Why are the audience and mass brands not concerned for safety, build quality, after sales service and are just looking for peers to lust after your ride?

  1. Why are brands not paying attention to what consumers actually want in their new car?

  1. The other day I saw a video on the VW Polo, reasons why you shouldn't buy it. Why are such people targeting one car? As automotive journalists, one should mention its pros and cons as the buying decision is up to us.

  1. We all love rear seat space don't we? Why are brands not focusing on that? It would be a major deal breaker if they didn't.

  1. When it comes to cheaper vehicles, we all pay nearly the same price. But why do the same cars abroad come with better safety tech through driver assistance systems? A major reason why our cars are not safe.

  2. When it comes to faster adoption of electric cars, we have spoken alot about its plans and prosperity. But what about charging infrastructure?

  3. When will there be a time where we have to pay the same amount of money for luxury cars as other nations do?

  4. Will there be any incentives given by the government to new brands?

  5. When will there be an end to heavy tax culture? Major brands like Harley Davidson have quit and Toyota hasn't expanded yet which is really sad.

  6. Instead of 'Kitna deti hai?' why can't we ask 'Kitna safe hai?'

I could really ask more but I think this would be enough for now. As consumers I really want to ask you a simple question. When you invest money in a car do you really make a list of your priorities or just go in because somebody said so?

Just because a new car is launched, that doesn't mean we can let brands fool ourselves because it looks attractive or you're getting discounts to buy it. Wait for reviews, enquire regarding after sales services and warranty and most importantly, build quality! Or else as its your money, you'll be liable.

And frankly speaking, looking at the state of our economy, I'm not really sure if one should buy a car right now. But if it's really the need of the hour for you, there's no one stopping you from buying one.

Also, when it comes to buying one, as consumers, we need to set our priorities straight and be aware so that we are not fooled by the dealership.

Thank you guys for reading this thread. See you guys in the next post
