Does the automotive sector have low scope ?

 Is the automotive sector a sector of low scope?

I know you'll be surprised when I asked such a question. 

Believe me, even I was surprised too when this question came across to me.

The reason why I wrote this is because what actually happened was that the college I was   in made a decision to shift me and my batchmates to mechanical field from automotive just because the university came to a decision that the automotive field doesn't have any scope.

And so due to that, my mind was full of questions…I'm sure as an automotive enthusiast who reads this thread, you'd have queries regarding this too.

Does the automotive industry not make any sense? 

Does it not contribute to the economy even after millions of cars being sold?

It's also been said that this sector plays a pivotal role in the GDP of a nation. Yes the pandemic has occurred, yes it has vandalized every field beneficial to the economy. But even though the automotive sales sector is on its way to recovery, we can't assume it's future.

In simple words I say, a temporary pandemic cannot predict the future of the scope of any field, be it the automotive sector. 

All I want to say is that due to cars going electric in the coming years and many people buying a new one there is still scope that the automotive industry is never ever going to be irrelevant even with the jobs connected actually towards it, I believe that there will be an increase in the number of jobs here.

It’d seem that if the automotive industry were irrelevant, the number of developments that have led breakthroughs in the very field of transportation would be useless, Don’t you think ?

One of the best ways of transportation, roadways that leads to every nook and corner would not exist at all. All of us would have gone back to our old walking ways.
