Recent trends in cars that I just hate!
Automobiles have been a long time in the making since ages.
We've been used to all kinds of trends rising in falling in the market but there are some that still exist. Here are the ones I hate and why.
1. Digital dials instead of analogue
Yes, I know that Audi, Porsche Mercedes Volkswagen brands do them well but BMW, Hyundai and other small manufacturers make them too just for the sake of ticking the equipment list and trust me, they don't look great. The tachometer is counter clockwise which is just unconventional. On top of that, the resolution and graphics of the displays themselves is bad which doesn't do justice to what they're even supposed to do in the first place. Some brands just do it to show a digital speedometer only. The satisfaction of Seeing the analogue needle hit all the way to redline is a sight that's breathtaking. It's now sad to see another beloved feature get killed.
2. Fake exhausts and vents
This trend just started recently. Its okay to see such trends on small cars but seeing luxury cars follow it, is a shame. I'm shocked to see that it has even made it on some sports cars. Vents are used to channel airflow and cool down the engine and if a sports car really needs it then why create a fake one for looks and not purpose ? And for the behind, a sporty looking rear bumper or changes made in such a way that the exhaust faces properly in such a way that it does look sporty.
3. Rev limiter
The introduction of the rev limiter is a recent trend too due to emission norms as far as i know. But what's the use of having a V6 or V8 engine when you cant rev it to the fullest?. Sound was the greatest part of having an IC engine. Seems like brands are trying to change our priorities to change towards the electric future. Not fair at all for some people who drool over just cause of the way a car sounds.
4. Replacing physical buttons with touch sensitive ones.
As we all have come to realise that touch screens and touch sensitive buttons are the future, and do make life easier, in the case of automobiles, it hasn't been well implemented. Using touch sensitive controls for basic functions like climate control is a terrible invention. The controls used here are gimmicky and don't work usually the way we want them to.
Do let me know what you guys think of these trends and do mention other trends that you can't simply bear to see taking over!
