Transmission Talk

Image
Hyundai recently launched the new Venue SUV with an IMT or intelligent manual transmission but have you really wondered how many kinds of transmissions are out there? , which is the best one among them, which is the most fuel efficient or which makes the best driving experience in a car? We all know that car transmissions come of many types namely manual and automatic but there are variations in each of them. Here's a full list of them! Manual transmissions: The old classic. Gives you one of the best driving experiences thought the changing of gears and clutch work is done manually. Intelligent manual transmission: (IMT) Developed by hyundai and kia motors, this is a hybrid of an automatic and a manual transmission where in change of gears is done manually while the clutch work is done automatically. In the below picture you can see a manual transmission but the clutch is absent. Hyundai says that the technology uses an  'intention sensor' with the gear lever th...

Kinds of Cars in the Indian automotive market- Part 1

Image
There are many kinds of cars available in the Indian automotive market. Some of us may just clarify them as Sedans, Hatchbacks and SUV's...... But there's more to cars than these. With this article I aim to  broaden your mind about the types of vehicles available in the market so that, planning your budgets and directing yourself to the right car should get easier. Today's article is all about hatchbacks.. 1.Entry level hatchbacks: For those on a hatchback with a tight budget Range from around 3 lakhs to around 5/5 ½ lakhs Cars available in this segment are:          1.Maruti Suzuki Alto (3.60-4.81 lakh)          2.Datsun Redi-go (3.32 - 4.412 lakh) 3. Maruti suzuki alto K10 (4.26 - 5.08 lakh) In this segment, I prefer the alto k10 as it has a much better engine in terms of power delivery. It's also backed up by the amazing after sales service that maruti offers 2 . Premium budget hatchbacks R...

My bond with my swift

General question. How many of you guys have ever owned a Swift or driven it once at least? I feel most of you must be nodding in the affirmative. I am one of those people who owns a Swift currently.  If you have read my earlier article on the Zen, it's obvious that since it was old, we needed a replacement. And after searching, my dad chose that it was the Swift that he was going to go for. It was a VXi model with a shiny blue colour which really made it stand out. The interior plastic quality was great, the cup holder was of great convenience and the AC kept the interior cool at all times. There were a few dents and scratches here and there though on the exterior. The steering was very light, which helped maneuver anywhere around the city but at the same time it never weighed up at high speeds. The 1197 cc petrol engine with 86 HP coupled with 114 Nm of torque meant that power was handy when required. There was a little bit of body roll around the corners but it was acceptable....

Swift: A car beyond infinity

Hello there! If you ask what is the best car in India that Suzuki has ever created? Some of your might say the Alto Zen or even the 800. But it was the Swift that actually changed the brand. 15 years of this car, three generation changes, no matter what people still love this car and my family and I are one of those lucky people to have owned such an extraordinary automobile. One look at that from the outside and inside and you always question yourself how did Maruti Suzuki ever manage to create a car like this with no cramped cabin, good features like a factory made stereo, airbags and alloy wheels. Making this car, Maruti did not take a small step, they leaped to a whole new league of creating cars like never before. But let's begin where it all started at the Geneva motor show where Maruti made an impeccably built Concept 'S'. The success of the Honda City sparked Maruti to take such decisions. Other car makers like Hyundai and Ford with their cars 'Getz' and the...

LOVE AT FIRST ZEN - My first ever car

Hey there! Welcome to my first post. 1. Love at first Zen! There may be many vintage cars that people talk about. Ask me, being born in 2002 I don't know much. Because all that I'd seen when I was born in the early 2000's were Altos, 800's, Accent's etc That brings us to my first ever car. The Suzuki Zen.  The moment I saw it, it was love at first sight! (cant say drive because I'm still 17!) It looked stunning in violet and had lots going for it. A 1998 LX model. It's 'jelly bean' design looked so extraordinary for a hatchback. My neighbours who owned the car before me, modified the car to look like the VX spec by adding a bull bar, power windows and a set of fog lamps which was very cool that time If anybody ever knew this, Zen actually stands for Zero-engine-noise  It had a 900cc engine powered by 60 (yes 60!) Horsepower coupled with 78nm of torque Sounds less in today's world but hey, I'm not done talking yet....
